Common Sense Social Networking From Google+

July 22, 2011

One of the biggest non-social features of Facebook happens to be the fact that anything you post, share or comment gets broadcast to your entire network. For being a social network that is one un-social way to network.

Nikki Beach: Tell Only Your Best Friends

June 30, 2011

Having just visited the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas hotel twice since January, even I was ‘wowed’ by the metamorphosis at every turn upon arriving Memorial Day weekend for the biggest splash of the summer, the grand opening of Nikki Beach Las Vegas. Amidst the Strip’s salacious glam, a nearly $200 million transformation is definitely enough to make you look twice.

Out of Home: More bytes. Less boards.

June 21, 2011

For media buyers and planners, the ever-evolving world of emerging media is top of mind. The Out-of-Home space is vast and constantly expanding. The use of Digital billboards has increased exponentially in just the past few years.

Many advertisers are jumping on the digital bandwagon and for good reason. They’re taking advantage of this new and exciting way to reach consumers and enjoy having the ability to rotate creative or change messaging in minutes. Options for digital Out of Home (OOH) are limitless and we’ve only just begun. These digital boards have opened the door for a lot of smaller companies that now have the ability to advertise their message along a major artery while sticking to a conservative budget (as they’re sharing the cost with other advertisers by running in 8 second rotations). This type of high profile placement was unheard with static boards for companies with lower budgets. Advertisers also appreciate the cost savings that come from eliminating production and/or printing costs as creative is served electronically within minutes from a simple PDF. This is great for advertisers with varying messages, such as the AZ Lottery having to change creative overnight with rolling jackpots…

Virtual Product Placement Comes to Local Television

June 15, 2011

With the increased penetration of DVRs and clients looking for creative ways to weave their products and services into television shows and movies outside of the commercial break, product placement has been gaining traction as a popular form of advertising.

In the past, product placements were either integrated into a locally produced show or had to have the backing of a national client with a large budget to be considered. Today, however, the popularity of Virtual Placement is making its way to the local market.

May 11, 2011

Each year I look forward to reading the list of the Most stressful jobs in America, which is compiled by CareerCast.com (I guess I like to see if I know anybody who works in a field on the list). When creating this list, CareerCast.com looks at 11 factors that can cause stress on the job, including work environment, job competitiveness, physical demands and opportunity for advancement. It then ranks 200 professions by how these factors influence the average workday.

PATS RUN 2011

April 22, 2011

On April 16th, 2011 I stood with nearly 35,000 people in complete silence as the national anthem roared from a trumpet outside Sun Devil Stadium to commemorate the Arizona native and fallen soldier Pat Tillman.

Pat is often referred to as “Arizona’s Favorite Son”. He was a linebacker for the ASU Sun Devils and went on to play professional football with the Arizona Cardinals. In 2002, Pat Tillman proudly put his NFL career on hold, and walked away from a $3.6 million dollar contract, to serve his country. This decision was just one of many he made over the course of his lifetime to help others and serve a cause greater than his own self-interest. Following Pat’s death in 2004, while serving with the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan, his family and friends established the Pat Tillman Foundation.
